Cúc Phương là vườn quốc gia đầu tiên của Việt Nam, có lịch sử bảo vệ rừng từ năm 1960 và quyết định thành lập năm 1962. Rừng nằm trên núi đá vôi, có thung lũng, cây gỗ lớn và các hang chứa dấu tích cư trú thời tiền sử. Những chương trình bảo tồn tại đây tập trung vào linh trưởng, rùa, thú ăn thịt nhỏ và tê tê. Vì vậy, nội dung khám phá không chỉ là đi giữa cây xanh mà còn là tìm hiểu cứu hộ động vật và khảo cổ.
